Description
A 1oz gold Isle of Man Noble coin produced by the British Pobjoy Mint on behalf of the Isle of Man.
The Noble was the name given to a coin introduced by Edward III in 1344. In 1994 the Isle of Man issued the first Noble since the reign of Edward IV and it has been produced annually ever since.
The obverse of the coin depicts an effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The design of the portrait varies according to the year of issue.
The reverse of the coin features the classic design of a Viking longship under full sail with seabirds flying on either side of the mast and waves beneath. A Viking knit encircles the motif and the Isle of Man’s flag – a triskelion of armoured legs – appears in a frame at the top of the coin.
